“The Art of the Quilt” – July & August at ARTWORKS around town

ARTWORKS around town and curator Janet Sheehan are pleased to announce “The Art of the Quilt” exhibit will be featured in the north Galleries for July and August.  This exciting show features the work of the National Road Quilt Guild.  The display will open with a festive Gallery Hop on July 1st from 5:30 – 8 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Made up of thirty talented women, the Guild’s work represents many different styles and techniques.  The stunning results show the diversity of subject matter, all created with needle, thread, cloth and a great deal of talent.

The group meets the second Tuesday of the month at the East Richland Friends Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio.  The Guild serves many charitable organizations in the Ohio Valley including, Harmony House, Tri-County Help Center and Foster Hope.

Some members participate in creating Quilts of Valor.  These members focus on their mission to serve veterans and other persons affected by war by donating quilts for comfort and warmth.

The work of seven members will be on display for the months of July and August.  Those members are Gail Ruminski, Becky Kraley, Rachel Skidd, Sue Olinski, Anita Rogers, Pam Cleaver and Bobbi Rauschenberg.

ARTWORKS around town is a nonprofit art gallery and education center dedicated to serving the public of the area.  Located in Wheeling’s Historic Centre Market, hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. six days a week, Monday through Saturday.  Ongoing workshops are available.  Please see the website:  www.artworksaroundtown.com for details and information on becoming a member artist.
