{"id":872,"date":"2013-08-31T16:34:19","date_gmt":"2013-08-31T20:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/?p=872"},"modified":"2013-08-31T16:51:36","modified_gmt":"2013-08-31T20:51:36","slug":"judy-anderson-kit-dailey-bring-whimsy-to-september-gallery-hop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.org\/?p=872","title":{"rendered":"Judy Anderson and Kit Dailey Bring Whimsy &#038; Mindscapes to September Gallery Hop"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_875\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/anderson1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-875\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-875\" alt=\"Mother Earth Finishing Eden - Anderson\" src=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/anderson1-150x150.jpeg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-875\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mother Earth Finishing Eden &#8211; Anderson<\/p><\/div>\n<p>First Friday at Artworks Around Town presents a duo of joyous painters from Ohio.\u00a0 Kathryn \u201cKit\u201d Edwards Dailey and Judy Anderson bring fun, color, design and bright light to the Studio Gallery at 2200 Market Street in Historic Wheeling\u2019s Centre Market.\u00a0 The opening reception will run from 5 to 8 PM this Friday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.\u00a0 The gallery show artists will be present as will many of the Artworks artists.<\/p>\n<p>Kathryn \u201cKit\u201d Edwards Dailey has turned whimsy into gold.\u00a0 Her watercolor or casein paintings are filled with joy, love and humor.\u00a0 \u201cPlaid Cow Disease\u201d was chosen for the Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibition.\u00a0 \u201cCow Out\u201d won first place in the mixed media division of the Foothills Art Festival.\u00a0 Kit is a painter who gifts you, the viewer with a moment of happiness from viewing her artwork.\u00a0 Even her titles elicit a smile before the painting is fully comprehended.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_877\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/plaid-cow-disease.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-877\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-877\" alt=\"Plaid Cow Disease - Dailey\" src=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/plaid-cow-disease-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-877\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Plaid Cow Disease &#8211; Dailey<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This well educated and trained artist calls herself a \u201cwhat if\u201d painter not a \u201cwhat is\u201d painter.\u00a0 She tells whimsical stories using her watercolors, casein or acrylics on Arches paper or gallery wrapped canvases.\u00a0 Trained as a teacher at Miami University, she has combined her teaching career with her family\u2019s frequent moves as an opportunity to further her training in her art.\u00a0 Kit attended classes at the Columbus College of Art and Design and Ohio University through the years.\u00a0 Then she began to study with some of the most prominent art teachers and art workshop leaders in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Judy Anderson\u2019s paintings are bright, beautiful, and full of exuberance.\u00a0 This artist started her artistic life at the age of seven and continued over the years to pursue her artistic career through all the vicissitudes of life.\u00a0 When her children were small, she drew with pen and ink.\u00a0 When her husband was ill, she painted for four or five hours after her care giving duties were finished for the day. She never gave up her art, always adapted her work to her situation in life.<\/p>\n<p>Judy sees herself as an \u201cexpressionist\u201d. \u00a0Her work is self-described as \u201cmindscapes\u201d.\u00a0 She uses her surroundings as inspiration only.\u00a0 The surroundings are a resource for her work, not a religion to be followed strictly. There is no angst in her work.\u00a0 Judy states, \u201cPaintings are like children, some are easier to raise than others.\u00a0 All artwork requires orchestration, discipline, and love to turn out well.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_879\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Fan-Dance.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-879\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-879\" alt=\"Fan Dance - Anderson\" src=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Fan-Dance-150x150.jpeg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Fan-Dance-150x150.jpeg 150w, http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Fan-Dance-300x297.jpeg 300w, http:\/\/artworksaroundtown.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Fan-Dance-1024x1015.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-879\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fan Dance &#8211; Anderson<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Her illustration career has given her an insight into what is most appealing to the general public and what can elicit a positive reaction from most people. Working in acrylic on canvas, or gouache (opaque watercolors) on paper her goal is to create works of art that evoke a warm lasting response from the viewer.<\/p>\n<p>To make this \u201cFirst Friday\u2019s\u201d viewing experience even better, the North Gallery will be filled with plein air paintings from this year\u2019s \u201cPaint Historic Wheeling\u201d and also the past seven \u201cPaint Oglebay\u201d events.\u00a0 The Artworks artists will be showing the best of their plein air work.\u00a0 The term, plein air means to paint outside in the open air.\u00a0 This form of painting is difficult to accomplish.\u00a0 Only the bravest painters take on plein air painting.
