November Happenings at ARTWORKS around town

November at ARTWORKS around town will usher in the Holiday season with a celebration featuring a reception on Saturday, November 6.  The opening event is scheduled from 11 until 3 at the Centre Market Gallery.  Light refreshments will be served and artists will be present to greet visitors during that time.

Amanda Carney and Andrew Bartsch will continue to show their work in the Studio Gallery for the month.  Their surrealistic fantasy pieces mesh well to form a slice of youthful vigor to the Gallery.  If you haven’t had an opportunity to see it, stop in before the end of November.

8th graders Moundsville Middle School:  Cheyenne Foster, Abbie Allen and Kiersten Wood

The Student section of the north end will feature an exciting collection of plein air pieces done by students from Marshall County.  Artworks member and plein air specialist, Eric Dye collaborated with Assistant Superintendent Woody Yoder to arrange an outdoor painting event at Grand Vue Park in early October.  Art teachers, Ruth Keim, Tabetha Morgan, Sonya Holliday and Olivia Snider worked primarily at the overlook area supervising students and instructing them in the “art” of painting outdoors.

Students from John Marshall, Moundsville Middle and Sherrard Middle schools participated.  Dye hopes to make it an annual experience for the youth of the Moundsville Area.  Approximately 30 pieces will be picked for display and prizes will be awarded by the judge to the top five students.  ARTWORKS is committed to providing outreach programs such as this to the community as part of its mission statement.

November is Holiday Shopping time and there is no better place than Artworks for providing one of a kind gifts such as paintings, fine art photography, ceramic pieces, woven and fiber art and jewelry.  Supporting small business in these times is especially gratifying and ARTWORKS around town at Center Market provides everything you may need for the season including gift certificates.ARTWORKS around town is a nonprofit art gallery dedicated to serving artists and the public of the area.  Hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. six days a week Monday through Saturday with closing at 6 on Fridays.  Anyone interested in joining please see the website for details and an application at  Check the website also for ongoing and special workshops and other events available year round.
